Rotary to host Super Bowl party

Posted

The Super Bowl teams have been determined, and the fun and excitement with friends will be at the viewing party hosted by the Rotary Club of Pagosa Springs on Sunday, Feb. 11, at the Tennyson Building Event Center.

Party doors will open at 3 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person and may be purchased online at pagosaspringsrotary.org or in person with cash or check at The Choke Cherry Tree.

Betting squares will begin at 3 p.m. and will end at 4:15 p.m., per state-sanctioned guidelines, prior to kickoff at 4:30 p.m. You can purchase squares for $20 cash per square and there will be 100 squares available. Cash awards of $250 will be given out at the end of every quarter, for a total of $1,000 in prize money. Come early to get the squares you want.

Broadcasting the game, and all the great commercials and entertainment, will be from one large projection screen plus four additional large televisions around the room. Food, perfect for a spectator sport event, will be offered at the end of every quarter and includes homemade chili, a hot dog bar and snacks galore. Beer, wine and mixed drinks will be offered at the cash/credit card bar.

Door prizes will be awarded throughout the game, and all ticketed attendees have a chance to win. Prizes include passes to the geothermal springs, ax throwing, a virtual shooting range, salt cave, horse-drawn carriage ride and more. Prizes will also be awarded to the best-dressed fans — one male and one female attendee.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the Rotary Club’s local scholarship program for graduating high school seniors that awards higher education support for college, and certificate and vo-tech training. This scholarship program began in 1983 with Floyd McKee as the first scholarship recipient. To date, Rotary has awarded 197 scholarships for a total of $540,125 and is budgeted to award $24,000 in scholarships this year.

Bring your friends for fun and viewing of the 58th NFL Super Bowl.
