Meet the Archuleta County Fair royalty

Posted

This year marks the 73rd Archuleta County Fair, “A Timeless Tradition.”

This year’s fair will run Aug. 1-4 at the Archuleta County Fairgrounds, 344 U.S. 84.

Our 2024 fair royalty consists of Queen Cailey Puls, Princess Lyla Frie and Junior Princess Bristol Jacobson.

Puls is 16 years old and home-schooled. She enjoys her speech and writing co-op, and playing piano. Puls also enjoys spending time with her family, riding horses, watercolor art, drawing, sewing and is very active in her church youth group. After previously traveling nearly every summer with her family, she is excited to spend this summer at home and participate in the Archuleta County Fair as both our queen and as a participant in 4-H showing lambs.

Frie is 12 years old and attends Pagosa Valor Academy. Frie is actively involved in the Archuleta County Fair 4-H, Tribe Youth Group, Pagosa Swim Team and Pagosa Ski Team. When Frie is not busy with one of her many extracurricular activities, you can find her babysitting her younger siblings, listening to music and hanging out with her dog.

Jacobson is 9 years old and attends school at Our Savior Lutheran School. Jacobson is involved in the Colorado Kids 4-H Club and loves cake decorating. She also enjoys barrel racing and going to rodeos, and playing basketball and volleyball. When she is not busy with sports, rodeos or 4-H, she enjoys relaxing by coloring and painting.

Fair dedications

The Archuleta County Fair Board wishes to remember Archuleta County Fair supporters and volunteers who have passed away over the last year.

These supporters and volunteers passionately served the fair, the 4-H program and our youth. We acknowledge their commitment to the fair and to our community in general.

This year we are honored to remember these faithful men and we dedicate this year’s fair to their memory: Ron Gustafson, Robert Case and Chuck Betts.

Recognizing our supers

This year we also wish to recognize two hardworking and well-deserving folks who have made an impact over the years in the successful fair programs. These volunteers step up and fill essential roles during the fair, utilizing their specific skills and talents to improve in many areas.

Our fair could not function without the tireless work of these motivated, community-oriented men and women.

We are pleased to recognize this year’s Super Superintendent, Shelley Cox, and this year’s Super Volunteer, Jake Montroy.

Thank you both for your dedication and hard work in making the Archuleta County Fair a success each year.
