Library foundation seeks community support

The library expansion team with the Ruby Sisson Library Foundation and Friends is hard at work raising funds and awareness of our Mountains of Opportunity campaign to expand and renovate your Ruby Sisson Library.

We are excited to announce that we are over halfway to our $4 million goal. And, we owe a huge debt of gratitude to everyone in our community who has supported our building campaign thus far.

With your ongoing support, we are well on our way to building a state-of-the-art library in our incredible community. But, we still have work to do, and we still need your help. This year, we are asking everyone to help us close the gap in our fundraising efforts and raise $500,000. With the power of everyone in our community, we can raise the funds needed to expand and renovate your Ruby Sisson Library.

While local fundraising efforts continue, since we are over halfway to our goal, we are now able to show foundations and other grantors that the community backs this much needed expansion.

Staff is diligently securing as many grants as possible from regional, state and national foundations.

Jann Pitcher, chair of the Mountains of Opportunity building campaign steering committee, recently shared, “I am honored to support this vital building campaign. My family and I have utilized the Ruby Sisson Library for many years, and continue to enjoy its many programs and resources available to everyone in our community. I truly believe in the transformational power of the Ruby Sisson Library. With this great town that we live in, I have no doubt that we will reach our goal.”

We hope to wrap up our campaign fundraising efforts in April 2025 with our final and best Library Affair event.

We want to hear from returning decorators and other creatives anxious to be part of the fun. It’s never too early to formulate your ideas, gather your committee and start collecting items for these amazing tables. Now is a good time to let us know who you are and that you are in.

Your Ruby Sisson Library offers a variety of programs, services, and resources to people of all ages and backgrounds. We help to bridge the digital divide, support job seekers and entrepreneurs, supplement educational opportunities, improve health and wellness, and more.

The library sees an average of 6,500 people each month. The building is not large enough to contain all of the programs, resources and services the community expects and needs at their public library. Pagosa is poised for continued growth, and a larger library will allow for increased programming, additional computers and digital resources, a dedicated children’s room and garden, an engaging space just for teens and tweens, and more community services.
