Dr. Joanna Estes to be guest speaker for End-of-Life Education group

Posted

End-of-Life Education is the name of the meetings arranged by a volunteer group of concerned community members who want to complete their lives with the same quality and responsibility as they have lived.

We have been discussing many topics related to the end of life.

Our next meeting will be Aug. 19, with the time being 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. using the Ruby Sisson Library’s large meeting room. If you would like to bring cookies, coffee and tea will be available.

Dr. Joanna Estes is an amazing woman who will share relevant information from her long experience of being an MD and dealing with death.

She will share the medical perspective of end-of-life care. She will detail the procedure involved in utilizing MAiD CO. She will also distinguish between hospice and palliative care. Then, she will answer all of our questions. This may be a very important talk that you won’t want to miss.

I got vetoed for this being the last gathering for this year. So, keep checking The SUN for future programs this fall. If there is a topic you want presented, please let us know.

Feel welcome to join us. We have been meeting for six months, but participation varies for each speaker and time.

End-of-life can be a difficult topic which seems to be better handled when we join together to deal with it, since all people are faced with it. Most people find that topics like this are actually empowering and helpful for living life to the fullest. It can be very positive and affirming, and there is so much to learn.
