BLM Southwest Resource Advisory Council to meet Aug. 8

The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM’s) Southwest Resource Advisory Council will hold a meeting on Aug. 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Uncompahgre Field Office, 2465 S. Townsend Ave. in Montrose. 

The meeting is open to the public.

“This will be our third Southwest Resource Advisory Council meeting of the year.” said District Manager Stephanie McCormick. “We truly value the contributions of our 15 members, who represent varied backgrounds and interests throughout southwest Colorado.”

Planned agenda items include an overview of field office updates, and a presentation and discussion on the Uncompahgre Field Office Resource Management Plan Amendment and evaluation process for considering areas of critical environmental concern. 

A public comment period is scheduled for 2 p.m. Individuals who wish to make a statement during the public comment period are encouraged to submit a written copy of their statement for the administrative record. 

The Resource Advisory Council will also attend a field trip on Aug. 7.

The Resource Advisory Council provides advice and recommendations to the BLM on various resource and land management issues. The Southwest Resource Advisory Council advises the BLM Colorado Southwest District, consisting of the Gunnison, Tres Rios and Uncompahgre field offices.
