64th annual Little Beaver Celebration to be held in Dulce

The Jicarilla Apache Nation has released the schedule of events for the 64th annual Little Beaver Celebration in Dulce, N.M.

The parade will be held at 10 a.m on Saturday with the theme “Honoring our Native Heritage with Little Beaver.”

The order of events are as follows.

Tuesday, July 16

There will be a dog show from 10 a.m. to noon held at the Department of Youth lawn. For more information, contact the Department of Youth at (575) 759-4313.

Wednesday, July 17

Dulce Park will host the Indigenous Arts in the Park starting from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, contact the Department of Youth at (575) 759-4313.

Thursday, July 18

The Kiddies Parade will begin at 10 a.m. in the VMG parking lot. Lineup is at 8 a.m. For more information, contact Jimmy James at (575) 759-4313.

A community water fight will take place in front of the fire department starting at noon. For more information, contact the fire department at (575) 759-3253.

Friday, July 19

The annual Little Beaver Pony Express will begin at 8 a.m. at the Jicarilla Apache Reservation. The finish line is at the rodeo grounds and is expected to be reached around noon to 1 p.m. For more information, contact Adrian Harrison at (505) 787-4031.

At noon, the open dart shoot will be held at the Dulce Community Center. For more information, contact Wilbert Callado at (505) 979-0101.

The Alien Fest Concert in the Park will start at 3 p.m. and end at midnight in Dulce Park. For more information, contact Thomas Manwell at (505) 635-8658.

The rodeo royalty crowning will take place at 6 p.m. in the rodeo grounds area, and the Jicarilla Apache traditional crowning will be at 6 p.m. at the Pow-Wow Grounds.

The Byron Ramone Band will be featured at a dance at the Dulce Community Center starting from 9 p.m. The dance will continue until 1 a.m. The dance is open to everyone and admission will be taken. For more information, call (505) 478-7667.

Saturday, July 20

The annual softball tournament will continue at 8 a.m. at the softball complex. For more information, contact Callado at (505) 979-0101.

The annual Little Beaver Parade will begin at 10 a.m. traveling from Hawks Drive onto U.S. 64. Lineup and judging will be from 6 to 8 a.m. in the High school parking lot. The theme is “Honoring our Native Heritage with Little Beaver.” For more information, contact Nancy Velarde at (575) 425-8764.

The annual 3-D archery shoot-out will be held south of Dulce Lake at 10 a.m. For more information, contact Owen Phone at (505) 801-6944.
