The Pagosa Springs Police Department is seeking help in identifying a suspect connected with an attempted shoplifting that occurred at ALCO recently.

According to PSPD Detective Scott Maxwell, the suspect is a Hispanic male in his 20’s with tattoos.

According to Maxwell, the suspect reportedly asked the cashier what the prices were on the clearance items in the foyer and upon being told the prices were marked, proceeded to grab a smoker and leave the store.

The clerk and a customer then reportedly ran out to the vehicle the man was at and grabbed the smoker before the vehicle drove away.

The suspect was riding in a gray 1988 Ford Thunderbird. The owner of the vehicle was later located and interviewed. The owner of the vehicle reportedly stated that she did not know the suspect, but that he had asked for a ride to ALCO.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Maxwell at 264-4151, ext. 241.
