Wayne Harry Lumbattis passed away on April 10, 2024, in Winslow, Ariz., on his way back home in Pagosa Springs, Colo. He was born Dec. 10, 1933, in Long Beach, Calif., to Morris Charles and Viola Lillian (Davis) Lumbattis.

He grew up in California but always considered himself as a Colorado resident. He worked hard until his retirement.

His work included the family hardware store business, he owned a bar and grill, and was a fire chief in San Bernardino, Calif., until he retired. He was also in the military.

He came to Pagosa Springs on hunting trips and decided this was where he was going to live the rest of his life. He would guide hunting trips until his late 70s and had a garage full of trophies to show for his yearly hunts. He built a house in the Wildflower addition and loved his view of the mountains, and sitting on the back porch with beer in hand and going to happy hour somewhere. Wayne loved flowers, but sometimes he planted a little early and would always have to buy more, according to his friends. In the winter his home was in Keno Bay, Mexico.

Wayne is survived by a son, Wayne M. Lumbattis, San Luis Obispo, Calif., and daughter Lynn Ann West, San Bernardino, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Darryl Lee Lumbattis.

Also surviving are the many friends he had.
