Unitarian Universalists to hear about ‘From Separation to Wholeness’

A unique opportunity for Pagosa Unitarian Universalist (UU) Fellowship occurs this month as we host two UU guest ministers.

It has been some time since we have had a visiting professional, and we are honored to have the Rev. Ron Phares this Sunday, Aug. 4, at 10:30 a.m.

It is a rich opportunity to hear a wider view of UU perspectives. Regular attendees and all those interested in living more fully into curiosity and openheartedness are invited to join us. Our services are a mix of traditional worship elements and eclectic moments which may include meditation, poetry, music and readings from a variety of wisdom traditions.

Phares stated, “I’m a nerd for spirit, for the ecstasy of meaningfulness, but it wasn’t until I attended a UU church that I found my proverbial team to play for. I’ve dedicated my life to it ever since. The thing I think I’d most like you to know about me is that I feel deeply called to aid and abet the shifting of our paradigm from one of separation and control to one of partnership and mutual care. The two primary places I try to do that are in my family and in my ministry.”

Sunday’s theme is entitled “From Separation to Wholeness,” and Phares will share his reflection that UUs recognize that we live in an interdependent world, but do we live that way? Interdependence is unquestionably life-abetting.

He poses the following questions: “Why is it so hard to live in a way that is intentionally in harmony with interdependence? How do we move into this radically counter-cultural life-way?”

A father, husband and an ordained minister in the UU faith tradition since 2010, Phares will offer insight on the timely topic of interdependence.

Phares serves All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church in Colorado Springs, where he serves as minister, beginning his second year there.

Pagosa UU continues its focus of being a UU Welcoming Congregation, and in that spirit, we invite all people, regardless of their sexual or gender expression, to attend. As a spiritual community we strive to do good, grow spiritually and make friends.

Join us in-person at our services, normally held on the first and third Sundays of the month at 10:30 a.m. Find us in Unit B-15 of the Greenbriar Plaza 301 N. Pagosa Blvd. on the north side facing the Pagosa Peak.
