Runway for Rise online voting now available

Posted

On Saturday, Oct. 5, 12 team models will show off their recycled creations at Runway for Rise 2024 benefiting Rise Above Violence.

Each team will be competing for votes to raise the most money to support domestic violence programs and be awarded the 2024 Pagosa Prada Award.

Online voting for your favorite teams began on Monday, Aug. 12.

Votes are $1 and you can vote as often and for as many different teams as you like. Teams will be reaching out to family and friends for support, and every dollar received will be added to their team totals.

Your dollar votes also provide the funds for many Rise programs, including the new Economic Empowerment Program where clients move from short-term safety to long-term financial security.

Ninety-eight percent of people who experience domestic violence also experience economic abuse. This program endeavors to overcome those effects by teaching topics such as budgeting, managing debt and improving credit.

Rise offers incentives for participation, including $25 for each course module completed, a graduation award and up to $500 matched savings upon completion of the program.

Heather Rose explained, “My daughter and I are thrilled to support Rise because of its commitment to nurture safety, dignity and healing for women, children and youth.  We shouldn’t turn a blind eye to domestic violence. Getting to use art, fashion and creativity to fundraise is an incredible opportunity to give back to this amazing organization.”

To vote for Paper Roses and all the other teams comprised of your friends and neighbors, go to www.riseaboveviolence.org.

Each team will be adding teasers about their creations over the next few weeks, so you’ll want to revisit and vote often.

If you have any event questions, contact Annie Gian at annie@riseaboveviolence.org.

Help support these teams using their time and creativity to stop domestic violence in Pagosa.
