Posted

Outfits are constructed, models are practicing their runway walk and teams are still competing for your contributions.

This weekend, Runway for Rise will raise funds and awareness about Rise Above Violence programs. Our final team, Linda Esperanza, “Beautiful Hope,” encourages you to keep voting.

“From the beautiful Loma Linda subdivision, our team brings a message of hope. We are excited about this creative team challenge, and the opportunity it gives us to help bring critical resources to the lifeline that Rise Above Violence offers to our community. Please join us with your support,” the team stated.

An entertaining show would not be possible without the creative help of our amazing tech crew. Gus Palma as our master of ceremonies and Darren Lewis as our auctioneer will keep our guests entertained. Adrienne Young as our model’s coach will give our brave models confidence. Dale Scrivener will orchestrate the music and video, while Markus Hughes will provide the lighting to create the party atmosphere. Laura and Tim Moore are the experienced advisors providing the space and ambiance for a truly successful night. Thanks are not enough for all their help.

This event kicks off Domestic Violence Awareness Month, observed in October. This month is dedicated to providing awareness about domestic violence, its impact on individuals and communities, and the resources available for those affected. It seeks to educate the public, promote prevention strategies and advocate for policy changes.

By shining a spotlight on this issue, the month encourages survivors to seek help and fosters a greater understanding of the need for social change to combat domestic violence.

Rise Above Violence will once again decorate our town’s lampposts with purple ribbons signifying our support of survivors. Several educational articles will be published to increase awareness about this epidemic and how community citizens can overcome domestic violence. The grand finale of the month will be on Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. at the Liberty Theatre.

Rise will host the showing of the popular film “It Ends With Us,” adapted from Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel of the same name. This film will provide the background for a panel discussion with area professionals and a robust community conversation about domestic violence.

Remember to vote for your favorite teams and buy tickets for “It Ends With Us” at riseaboveviolence.org.
