Rio Grande National Forest’s Forest Specialist Series to focus on alpine plants

Posted

Join Rachel Hosna on Wednesday, July 24, for the Rio Grande National Forest’s July edition of the Forest Specialist Series.

Hosna is a rangeland management specialist focusing on botany and invasive programs.

She will present about plants that can survive some of the most extreme conditions on the Rio Grande National Forest — the alpine.

We’ll talk about types of alpine plant communities, go over some common and rare plants that occur in the area, and discuss responsible recreation in this fragile environment.

The online program will be held Wednesday, July 24, at 5 p.m. in partnership with the San Juan Mountains Association.

The Zoom presentation will be held live and will be followed by a Q-and-A session: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89693067049.

This event is part of the Rio Grande National Forest’s Forest Specialist Series, a once-monthly, online presentation to share information with our community. We hope you’ll join us to learn more about your local public lands.
