Pagosa Springs Middle School will present Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s “Mary Poppins Jr.” in the Pagosa Springs High School auditorium from Thursday, Aug. 15 and Friday, Aug. 16, at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 17, at 2 p.m.

The “practically perfect” musical is based on the classic P.L. Travers stories and the Walt Disney film.

The fifth- through ninth-grade cast and crew includes 41 students from the community led by directors Malinda Burnett, Katrina Thomas, Leo Baughman and Heather Rose.

A truly community event, participating students hail from Pagosa Springs Middle School, Pagosa Family School, Pagosa Valor Academy, Our Savior Lutheran School, Pagosa Peak Open School and home school.

“You are going to be blown away by the talent, hard work and excellence that these students exude. With only eight rehearsal days, these students put on a truly superior-quality show. This only can happen because the students are completely committed and have been working independently on their parts over the summer since their audition the first week of June. Then they come in ready to ‘fly’,” commented director Katrina Thomas.

All of London is shouting from the rooftops about this exciting stage adaptation of the classic tales of Mary Poppins. Join the Banks family as they encounter adventure after fun-filled adventure with their curious new nanny, Mary Poppins.

With colorful characters and an irresistible score, “Mary Poppins Jr.” is sure to be a crowd-pleaser for all ages.

Admission is free. Consider making a donation so we can continue this amazing musical theater experience for the middle-schoolers of our community.
