Jose Ernesto M. Garcia was born on April 12, 1943, to Alejandro and Louisa Garcia, and left this earth on May 13, 2024. He is survived by his life partner of 46 years Jaddis Martin; son Joseph Garcia (Mandi), of San Angelo, Texas; daughters Nora Garcia, of Allison, Colo., Mary Ann Garcia, of Allison, Colo., Josephine Tackett (Russell), of Allison, Colo., Ernestine Fulks of Pagosa Springs, Colo.; and brother Tony Garcia, of Delta, Colo. Jose is preceded in death by both parents, sister Susie Armijo, Estrella Pena, Jane Tuck, Rose Serruno, youngest son Ernesto Garcia and grandson Jake Bramwell.

Our father was the most gentle, loving man who always had a great story and made time for anybody who would listen. Family and friends were very important. Jose’s favorite thing was when we had get-togethers; nobody left his house on an empty stomach. He was a jack of all trades. Jose was a logger, a truck driver, a ranch hand, a septic system contractor and an amazing mechanic. There wasn’t anything he didn’t know how to do. He loved fishing, hunting and camping. The mountains were his home. Our cowboy will be missed by so many. Jose had 11 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. To the world he was just another man, but to us he was our hero.

Services will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Pagosa Springs, Colo., on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 11 a.m. with a luncheon following at the Mt. Allison Grange in Allison, Colo.
