Betty Seibel

Betty Seibel, age 99, peacefully passed away on May 27, 2024. She was born in Meeker, Colo., on March 17, 1925, to Charles and Winnie Cox. She was welcomed by her older brother, Robert. After her arrival, younger brother Gene was born. When Betty was a youngster, the Cox family moved from Meeker to the Allison area, where she and her brothers helped on the Cox family farm. Betty attended high school in Durango, Colo. Through family friends, she met Willard Seibel, of Arboles, Colo.

They married in December of 1944. She and Willard moved to California for a short time, where they worked agriculture and factory jobs supporting the war effort. After their experience in California, Betty and Willard returned to Colorado. They purchased their farm in Arboles and began their busy lives farming and raising their family of five children. Betty had many interests. She was involved with the local 4-H club, a member of the Allison Ranchettes and the Allison Community Church. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her chickens, fishing and rock hounding. Her 12 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren were a source of much joy for Betty. Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Willard; her son, Harold; her grandson, Darren McDonald; and her two brothers, Robert and Gene Cox. She is survived by her daughter, Judy McDonald, of Arboles, Colo.; daughter-in-law Lillian (Harold) Seibel, of Ignacio, Colo.; son Kenneth (Jane) Seibel, of Arboles, Colo.; daughter Karen (John) Erspamer, of Zionsville, Ind.; and daughter Marilyn (Mike) Warren, of Buena Vista, Colo.

Betty lived a very long and happy life, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A memorial service will be held at the Ignacio Community Church on Monday, June 17, 2024, at 11 a.m.
