Fourth of July Parade Grand Marshals Bob and Lisa Scott: Honoring community commitment and service

Posted

This year’s Fourth of July Parade Grand Marshals Bob and Lisa Scott stand as pillars of community spirit and dedication.

Their journey to becoming this year’s grand marshals reflects not just their years spent in Pagosa Springs, but a lifetime of commitment to service and community building.

The Scotts arrived in Pagosa Springs in 1998, seeking a change of lifestyle and a nurturing environment to raise their young family.

Bob brought his career in financial services to town, opening the Edward Jones Investments office and later founding Scott Strategic Investments, his independent investment and wealth management practice.

Lisa, driven by community engagement, immersed herself in various local initiatives, marking the beginning of their impactful journey in Pagosa Springs.

From the outset, the Scotts embraced their new home with open arms, eager to contribute positively. Their involvement in bringing the critical access hospital to Pagosa Springs exemplifies their proactive approach to community needs. Bob’s role in the Upper San Juan Health Service District Board of Directors and Lisa’s contributions to raising funds to provide operating capital for the startup and capital projects for the Dr. Mary Fisher Medical Foundation underscore their commitment to enhancing local health care services.

The couples’ generosity and dedication have significantly benefited numerous community nonprofits.

The Scotts’ dedication extends beyond the local community in their efforts to foster global connections.

Bob’s decade-long tenure with with Rotary Club of Pagosa Springs, where he played a crucial role in hosting exchange students, highlights their global perspective and commitment to youth development.

Lisa became deeply involved in Rotary in 2014, now spearheading the exchange student program and fostering cultural exchange opportunities for young minds.

Raising their children — sons Dean and Spence, daughter Diana, and niece Lauren — in Pagosa Springs has been central to the Scotts’ journey. Their active participation in the Archuleta School District, 4-H and various town recreational activities reflects their belief in holistic community development.

For the Scotts, these engagements not only enrich their family life, but also contribute to the vibrant tapestry of Pagosa Springs.

“Living in Pagosa Springs has brought our family great joy and the occasion to experience life in a small community full of wonderful people and opportunity,” Lisa Scott said.

For the Scotts, being named the Fourth of July Parade grand marshals of Pagosa Springs in 2024 is more than an honor; it’s a recognition of their unwavering dedication to community service and their profound impact on the lives of those around them.

Their journey — from San Francisco, where they met, to Denver, where they married and started their family, and eventually to Pagosa Springs — has been defined by a steadfast commitment to effecting positive change wherever they go.

As Pagosa Springs celebrates the Scotts as grand marshals in 2024, it’s not just a celebration of their achievements, but a reaffirmation of the values that define small-town America: generosity, community spirit and the belief that, together, we can build a brighter future for all.
