Donations sought for Shamrock Festival

Special to The PREVIEW

Members of St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church are in final preparations for this year’s Shamrock Festival, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 17.

The festival begins at 8 a.m. with a giant yard sale under the tent. This is a perfect time to empty your garage, closets and storage facilities of those extraneous treasures and give them to a good cause. All sales proceeds will be used for community outreach.

Donations for the yard sale are now being accepted at Airport Storage on Piedra Road from 10 a.m.- noon each Saturday morning prior to the event. Donations of household goods, art objects, crafts, kitchen equipment, tools, pet supplies, children’s toys, outdoor gear, seasonal decorations, etc. are appreciated. No electronic equipment or clothes can be accepted.

Concurrent with the yard sale is a used book sale in the church library. Hardback ($1) and paperback (25 cents) novels will be on sale, along with cookbooks, art books, crafts books and children’s books. Donations for the used book sale can be brought to the church. Please do not bring magazines, music books or technical books. Proceeds from the book sale go to support the church food pantry and prayer quilt ministries.

Following the conclusion of the yard sale, the Shamrock Festival will resume at 4 p.m. with wine, beer, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. At 4:30, the silent auction will open for bids. The silent auction traditionally is an elegant display of beautiful items set up for viewing inside the church. The silent auction is a centerpiece activity of the festival. Those wishing to contribute new items, art objects, jewelry or heirloom items to the silent auction can bring them to the church office.

All contributions to the festival are tax deductible and greatly appreciated.

The proceeds from the Shamrock Festival are used to assist people in need in our community.

St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church is located at 225 S. Pagosa Blvd.
