Community Connections, a leading nonprofit organization serving people with disabilities across Southwest Colorado, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the Early Intervention Local Program contract by the Colorado Department of Early Childhood (CDEC).

This contract enables the organization to continue providing early intervention services to children and families across Archuleta, Dolores, La Plata, Montezuma and San Juan counties.

Since 1985, Community Connections has been at the forefront of providing support to children, families and adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities across Southwest Colorado.

As the organization transitions into two distinct entities in 2024, Community Connections will continue its legacy of offering vital services, such as early intervention for children with developmental delays, family support for people with disabilities living at home and case management for those accessing long-term care in the community.

“We are honored to be awarded the Early Intervention Service Broker designation,” said Tara Kiene, president and CEO with Community Connections. “Early intervention is vital for infants and toddlers with developmental delays, empowering families with the tools they need to help their children thrive.”

Community Connections was selected for this designation based on its proven track record of excellence, innovative approaches to early intervention service delivery and commitment to customer satisfaction. The organization’s team of dedicated professionals will continue to uphold its mission to empower people with disabilities and their families to live fulfilling lives.

As the Early Intervention Service Broker, Community Connections remains committed to providing comprehensive early intervention services to eligible children from birth to age 3. These services encompass a wide range of supports to nurture development within family activities and community life.

Early intervention connects families with essential services such as developmental intervention, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech-language therapy, autism supports, and social and emotional services, among others. These services are provided at no cost to families, ensuring equitable access for all eligible children.
