ASD board approves 2024-2025 budget, staff contract renewals

Posted

At a special meeting held on June 25, the Archuleta School District (ASD) Board of Education (BOE) unanimously approved the budget for fiscal year 2024-2025.

Also at the meeting, the BOE unanimously approved contract renewals for district administrators, teachers and special service providers.

The BOE discussed the proposed 2024-2025 budget during its regular meeting on June 11.

On June 25, ASD Finance Director Eric Burt informed the board that the only change made since the June 11 meeting was “just a slight increase on the expense side.”

Burt explained this increase is due to a second new special education teacher position.

Special service providers include counselors, head nurse, coordinators and a grant program manager.

Highlights from the budget noted by Burt at the June 11 meeting include a total program funding amount of $18,924,881 — a 6.8 percent increase from the previous year.

Per-pupil funding also increased by 8.5 percent, to a total of $11,782.

The total projected revenue for the budget is listed at $21,218,546, with projected “additional” funding of $929,106.

The district has also approved a 3 percent raise for all employees, added two new special education teachers and a top step for all certified and classified lanes.

No further discussion was held in regard to the budget or contract renewals.

The next BOE meeting is scheduled for Aug. 20.
