Nov. 10, marks the 248th birthday of the United States Marine Corps.

It was on Nov. 10 in 1775 that a resolution was passed by the Continental Congress to establish the Corps.

Pagosa Springs-area Marines and their guests are invited to a celebration at Boss Hogg’s Restaurant and Saloon, 157 Navajo Trail Drive. The event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Wilderness Room on the restaurant’s main floor.

Dinner and drinks will be available from the main menu. Attendees will pay for their own drinks and dinner with an 18 percent automatically added gratuity.

The traditional cake cutting by sword will be featured, and the oldest and the youngest Marine present will be honored. Complementary birthday cake will be served. A video birthday message from the commandant of the Marine Corps will be shown.

Other service members, especially U.S. Navy Corpsmen, are welcome. Dress is casual; however, uniforms are always welcome.
