The sixth annual Community Fall Festival and Raffle will be held on Sunday, Sept. 11, at Town Park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This is a free event and everyone in the community is welcome. There will be free food, provided by the Knights of Columbus, and a cash bar. Rounding up the festivities from noon until 3 p.m. is live entertainment provided by two local favorites.

Taking the stage at noon will be the Retrocats band, which will again donate its time and musical talents. A Pagosa Springs rock band, Retrocats has performed at numerous local events and has a large fan following.

The members of the Retrocats, as the name implies, cut their musical teeth during the ‘60s and ‘70s, and happily serve up a mix of classic rock, blues and country for your dancing and listening pleasure. Having taken a sabbatical during the COVID outbreaks, the band is looking forward to rocking Pagosa Springs during the Sept. 11 festival.

The Pagosa Springs Line Dancers, headed by Beverly Chester, will entertain the crowd while the band takes a break at 12:30 p.m. The dancers include an ever-growing group of men and women dancers. Many of the line dancers have been dancing for the past 15 years and may be seen around town kicking up their feet, including in parades and past Community Fall Festivals.

One cannot talk about the festival without mentioning the popular brown bag raffle that includes donations from many local businesses. Most brown bag combinations are valued at over $200. Tickets available that day for $1 each or $5 for six. With the brown bag raffle, you must be present to win, and winning tickets will be pulled starting at 2:30 p.m.

Rounding out the festivities is a separate all-cash raffle. Grand prize is $1,500 followed by $750 second prize, $450 third prize, $200 fourth prize and $100 for fifth prize. Tickets are $10 each and winners do not need to be present to win. Tickets for this raffle may be purchased in advance at Pope John Paul II Church at 353 S. Pagosa St. from 9 a.m. until noon Monday through Friday or at the Sept. 11 event. Winning cash raffle tickets will be pulled at 3 p.m.
