On July 25, 2022, Kenneth Mack Jones completed his earthly journey and is with the Lord. Born in Coleman, Texas, Sept. 1, 1945, to parents Samuel Charles Jones and Mildred Eppler Jones (both deceased). Siblings are Wanda Whittington, Brenda Sue Ainsworth (Charles), Patsy Ruth Stack (deceased) and Cindy Jones Preston (Wanda). Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Charlotte Ann Jones, and her daughter, Cynthia Renay Turner (Peter).
Children born to Kenneth and former spouse Karen Joanne Jones are Kara Kristine Jones, Kenneth Kory Jones and Katie Leigh Jones Fetzer (Ben). There is a multitude of cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Kenneth graduated from McCamey High School in Texas in 1965, was drafted and joined the Navy, serving as radar technician on the flight deck of the USS Constellation from 1965-1969. In 1993, Kenneth graduated with honors from Hill College with an associate degree in science.
Kenneth was energetic in his 33 years of sober living and was enthusiastic about helping others on their spiritual journey.
Ken was a short-term missionary to Honduras from 1999-2009 on the “Manos de Dios” church planting team of the St. Francis by the Lake Episcopal Church in Canyon Lake, Texas.
Kenneth and Charlotte moved to Pagosa Springs, Colo., in August 2002 and became active members in St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church and the outreach programs to Navajo Land, the Hopi Connection and Honduras.
Kenneth taught fly-fishing and fly tying for the Archuleta County 4-H from 2003-2013. He also enjoyed working in the summer with the youth in the “Hooked on Fishing” program presented by the Pagosa Parks Department. Ken was presently a member of the fly-tying group of veterans at the Pagosa Bible Church, and each year participated in Project Healing Waters supported by Veterans for Veterans of Archuleta County.
Kenneth was a founding board member of Veterans for Veterans of Archuleta County in 2010 and an active lifetime member, working passionately to bring awareness and recovery to veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Kenneth loved cooking, woodworking, fly-fishing and being with friends and family playing games.
A burial Eucharist, military honors and reception will be held Tuesday, Aug. 16, 1 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, 225 S. Pagosa Blvd., Pagosa Springs.
