Diane E. Rieck, 78, of Bedminster, N.J., passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 23, at her home.

She was born in Morristown, N.J., on Feb. 7, 1943, a daughter of the late Gustav and Virginia Potter Eichelhardt. She grew up in Chatham, N.J., and had lived in Bridgewater, N.J., for 30 years and in Chimney Rock, Colo., for 12 years before moving to Bedminster 10 years ago.

Mrs. Rieck was a registered nurse employed by Dr. Harry Abramson in Somerville, N.J., for 15 years, retiring in the late 1980s.

Diane was a volunteer at the Somerset County Food Bank in Bound Brook, N.J., and volunteered with the Martinsville Rescue Squad for 20 years. She loved to sew and quilt, and had made many quilts for Quilts for Kids, a children’s cancer organization.

She was predeceased by her husband, John E. Rieck, who died Jan. 18, 2005.

Mrs. Rieck is survived by a son, Jeffrey A. Blazier, of Fords, N.J.; two daughters, Stacie L. O’Brien-Friedman, of Flemington, N.J., and Jennifer A. Fitzgerald, of Red Bank, N.J.; two step-daughters, Judi Argenziano, of Easton, Pa., and Debi Rieck, of Somerville, N.J.; a stepson, John E. Rieck II, of Westfield, N.J.; nine grandchildren, Brandon O’Brien, Hunter Blazier, Emily Fitzgerald, Madelyn Fitzgerald, Devin Blazier, Darcy Magrosky, Tyler Tereman, Dylan Tereman and Jackson Rieck; two sisters, Teri Scully, of Holland, and Karen Nilausen, of California; and a sister-in-law, Moira Blazier, of New Providence, N.J.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Food Bank Network of Somerset County, P.O. Box 149, Bound Brook, NJ 08805.
