Volunteer firefighters needed, fire academy set for August

Pagosa Fire Protection District

The Pagosa Fire Protection District is actively seeking volunteer firefighters. An entry-level firefighter academy is scheduled to begin in August. 

The fire academy will instruct students using nationally recognized Basic Firefighter curriculum along with the hands-on skills required to successfully meet the job requirements of firefighting. The academy will consist of 36 hours of classwork to prepare students for basic certification, one to two nights a week and two weekend classes.

No experience is needed to apply.

Applicants must be over 18 years old, have a current driver’s license, live in Archuleta County and must pass a background check. Call (970) 731-4191 or stop by Station 1 at 191 N. Pagosa Blvd. for more information or an application. Applications are due July 23.
