The Pagosa Fire Protection District (PFPD) was called to respond to a vehicle accident on east U.S. 160 near mile marker 154 at approximately 8:28 a.m. on April 1. A witness called 911 to report a vehicle had struck a tree.
The PFPD responded with two engines, one rescue truck, two chief vehicles, eight paid personnel and one volunteer. Firefighters assessed the vehicle for leaking fluids and fire hazards. One patient was transported by ambulance to local hospital facilities. Fire crews were on scene for approximately one hour. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by law enforcement.
