Special to The PREVIEW

“It’s Beginning to Look Like Christmas” is the theme for this year’s annual community Christmas concerts slated for Nov. 30 at 7 p.m., Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 2 at 4 p.m.

The Pagosa Springs Choral Society will present the program of seasonal and sacred music in the Pagosa Springs High School (PSHS) auditorium to kick off the Christmas season with music for the whole family to enjoy. These concerts are free to the public and everyone is encouraged and invited to come.

Singing under the director of Dan Burch, who also serves as music director at PSHS, the choir will present musical selections ranging from “Fum, Fum, Fum Fantasia” to “Behold That Star,” to the ever popular “Hallelujah Chorus” from George Fredric Handel’s magnificent oratorio, “The Messiah.”

Additionally, a select jazz ensemble will offer its rendition of “It Came Upon A Midnight Clear” and “The Christmas Song.” Several a cappella selections will be offered with the choir singing while surrounding the audience. Venita Burch will provide accompaniment for the remaining portion of the program.

Plan now to attend and invite your friends and neighbors to join you as we bring in the Christmas season in a very festive way for our community. A free-will offering to help fund music scholarships for PSHS students will be received.
