Peter Jankowski resigned his position as county administrator for Archuleta County on Nov. 9.
In a letter addressed to the Archuleta County Board of County Commissioners (BoCC), Jankowski submitted his formal resignation “with a heavy heart.”
“However, the distance from family and knowledge that I will not be with them for quite a period of time has lead me to this decision,” Jankowski’s letter reads.
County staff had been generous and supportive, according to the letter.
“The County is very fortunate for all three Commissioners, for their dedication, understanding and affection for their community,” the letter reads.
“I guess I was surprised at Peter’s decision,” BoCC Chair Steve Wadley told The SUN on Tuesday, adding that since it was a personnel matter he could not comment beyond that.
