“Viva la musica! Making music brings us together,” penned Sierra.

“I thank you for the ukuleles because other kids don’t get to do other instruments,” wrote Peyton.

Pagosa Springs’ morning and noon Rotary clubs, with Rotary District 5470 and Curtains Up Pagosa, combined funds to purchase 30 ukuleles for the elementary school and 34 ukuleles for the middle school music departments. These new instruments will be used during music classes in the third, fourth, fifth and seventh grades to introduce students to play an instrument.

“We practice songs on them and play a song on them like ‘Little Tommy Tinker’ and other songs,” wrote Amaya.

Janae wrote, “We are so excited. The colors are beautiful. I play the yellow ukulele. We will respect the ukuleles.” The ukes come in five colors: purple, pink, yellow, red and blue.
