An unidentified 68-year-old man was rescued from Elwood Pass Sunday evening after he was injured in an ATV accident.

Two agencies worked together on the rescue — Upper San Juan Search and Rescue and the South Fork Fire Department.

According to Thad McKain, Archuleta County’s director of emergency management, the vehicle rolled over and on top of the man, causing a head laceration, multiple broken ribs and possible internal injuries. The man was not wearing a helmet.

A family member was able to call for help and reach the Alamosa dispatch center at about 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon to report the accident, McKain explained.
