Back-to-school: Don’t overlook immunizations

It’s hard to believe that summer is almost over and the 2015-2016 school year is just around the corner. During this time, parents are preparing themselves for the day-to-day chaos of getting their kids to school on time, making sure they make it to their fall activity practices and other events, and helping their children stock up with the correct school supplies.

Obviously, it’s a bustling time of the year for families, but it’s also the perfect time to make sure your children are up to date on their vaccines. After all, getting all of the recommended vaccines is one of the most important things parents can do to protect their children’s health, especially when they are in a setting like a school or child care facility, where disease outbreaks can occur.

To celebrate the importance of immunizations for people of all ages — and make sure children are protected with all the vaccines they need — San Juan Basin Health Department (SJBHD) is joining with partners nationwide in recognizing August as National Immunization Awareness Month.
