Despite low fire danger, fireworks still illegal

While Pagosa Country might not be at the same levels of fire danger as in the last several years, those planning their Fourth of July celebrations are reminded that fireworks are still illegal in Colorado.

As a general rule of thumb, if a firework explodes or leaves the ground, it is not allowed in Colorado, though fireworks of every kind are prohibited in the Town of Pagosa Springs.

Too, both Archuleta County Sheriff Rich Valdez and Pagosa Springs Police Chief William Rockensock have stated that their departments will again take a zero-tolerance approach to fireworks.
