Local luminary Ron Gustafson has been chosen as the grand marshal of this year’s Fourth of July parade. A 21-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Gustafson served during the Cold War at lengthy assignments in Germany, Turkey and Greece. In this year’s parade, he will proudly wear his military uniform.
A high-profile Pagosa resident since 1997, Gustafson and his late wife, Cindy, were among the best-known and best-loved residents of our community. Seemingly, they were present at virtually every function and event in Pagosa and Archuleta County. They were volunteers or were members of many local organizations and activities.
