This spring, a grassroots effort to maintain and expand the mountain biking and hiking trails in Pagosa Springs has been gaining momentum.

On April 6, a community discussion about all things trail related and, specifically, the Turkey Springs trail network, was held.

Forty people attended the meeting, including representatives from the Wolf Creek Wheel Club (WCWC), Pagosa Mountain Sports, the Pagosa Area Trail Council (PATC), Upper San Juan Search and Rescue, the Pagosa Nordic Club and the Forest Service.

The meeting focused on creating community support for maintaining the Turkey Springs trail network, which encompasses approximately 40 miles of trails.

Jesse Hensle explained, “Turkey Springs trails are in desperate need of attention and do not support future use without significant maintenance.”
