Due to flooding, the Archuleta County Sheriff's Office and detention center are temporarily closed.
On Friday, inmates were relocated to the La Plata County Detention Facility and on Sunday the administration office was relocated to the Sheriff's Department's Emergency Operations Center.
Friends and family of inmates can contact the La Plata County Detention Center directly for visitation, a statement from Undersheriff Tonya Hamilton noted. That facility can be reached by calling 247-1161 or by visiting http://co.laplata.co.us/departments_and_elec…/…/detentions_0.
Fingerprints and VIN inspections are also currently on hold. Hamilton's statement noted, "... we anticipate that this may only be a day or two before we can begin doing them again."
