As Pagosa Springs Town Manager Greg Schulte works toward having marijuana regulations in place before the June deadline, he continues to seek guidance from town council on the details of the ordinance.
“We are doing this one piece at a time,” Schulte explained at Tuesday night’s meeting, “and we are actually making pretty good progress. We are still on track to have the first reading of a proposed ordinance at the first meeting in May.”
Schulte then brought up two new questions — who should be the local licensing authority and what limitations should be placed on marijuana businesses?
The first item was decided fairly quickly; everyone agreed town council should handle the job of screening applications and issuing licenses to local business owners, just like it does with liquor licenses.
