Local man convicted in 2012 horse shooting

An Aspen Springs man was found guilty Wednesday morning to charges stemming from a 2012 incident in which his neighbor’s horse was shot and killed.

Mark Franklin Trail was convicted of two counts following the trial — theft of agricultural animals and aggravated cruelty to animals.

In the trial, Deputy District Attorney Alex Lowe called the case “plain and simple,” with Trail having made previous threats to shoot horses that were on his property, then following through on that threat on May 19, 2012.
