A beginning archery class for kids ages 6-12 will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Aug. 2 at Navajo State Park. The class will be held at the park’s amphitheater.
The class concentrates on range rules, safety, range courtesy and fundamentals of archery. The session is appropriate for those who have never shot a bow or those with some previous experience.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife launched the Archery in the Schools program in 2005, and now more than 40 Colorado schools offer archery as part of their physical education programs. Children should wear sturdy shoes, be dressed appropriately for the weather and bring snacks and water.
The class is limited to 10 kids. To sign up for the class, call the park at 883-2208.
The program is free, but every vehicle entering the park must have a pass. The daily entry fee is $7, and an annual pass costs $70.
