Piedra road complete, under budget

After years of effort, Archuleta County officials and others involved celebrate the reconstruction of the northern portion of County Road 600 (Piedra Road, ending at the cattle guard boundary with the national forest), which has been deemed substantially complete and reopened to the public. After spanning two construction seasons, the reconstruction work on the northern portion of the paved section of Piedra Road (County Road 600) is now nearing total completion, with the road again open to the public.

The road was reopened to the public full time on June 14, when the reconstruction project was deemed to be substantially complete, said Archuleta County Public Works Director Ken Feyen.

Being substantially complete, Feyen said, means that a small amount of work remains — reseeding, additional pavement marking and placement of additional traffic signage.
