Five arrested in downtown bust

Five individuals were arrested last week following a drug bust at a motel in downtown Pagosa Springs.

The arrests took place shortly before 9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, following several hours of surveillance and the obtaining of a search warrant, reported Detective Jacob Beach of the Archuleta County Sheriff’s Office.

Beach explained that the arrests followed an anonymous tip from a concerned citizen that came in to the ACSO at about 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Following receipt of the tip, a search warrant was obtained by about 7 p.m. and surveillance was conducted for about four hours prior to the simultaneous breach of two motel rooms, Beach said.

In the breach, Beach reported that approximately 14 grams of cocaine, 3 grams of methamphetamines and over $800 cash was found.

According to Beach, five Pagosa Springs residents were arrested on various charges during the alleged incident:

• Richard Garcia, 35, was arrested on charges of unlawful possession of controlled substances, unlawful use of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Amanda Snow, 30, was arrested on charges of unlawful possession of controlled substances, unlawful use of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Ana Calvillo, also known as Ana Salas, 24, was arrested on charges of unlawful possession of controlled substances, unlawful use of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful distribution/sale/possession of cocaine, and keeping/maintaining/controlling/renting or making available property for unlawful distribution or manufacturing of a controlled substance.

• Terri Thayn, 33, was arrested on charges of unlawful possession of controlled substances, unlawful use of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful distribution/sale/possession of cocaine, and keeping/maintaining/controlling/renting or making available property for unlawful distribution or manufacturing of a controlled substance.

• Brandi Pemble, 36, was arrested on charges of child abuse.

“We appreciate the information from the public, especially in matters relating to drug distribution,” Beach said.
