Special to The PREVIEW

The Taste of Pagosa Cookbook project will highlight soups, salads and breads in their third cookbook recipe contest at their next fundraiser, Friday, March 7, at The Quality Resort.

The contest is open to all and there is no fee to enter a recipe. Entries need to be booked by Friday, March 7, at noon.

Please call Tari Woods to get complete details about your entry — that is, how to keep your soup hot and your salad cold — at 731-8877.

Plates, bowls and napkins are provided. Entry forms will be available and food may be delivered to The Quality Resort’s Ponderosa Room between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The event begins at 6 p.m. Admission is $20.

We will have five judges for this event, from Nello’s, Riff Raff Brewing Company, JP Culinary Concepts and The French Made Bakery, and our celebrity judge for this event is Steve Wadley, Archuleta County commissioner and owner of The Rose Restaurant, with his wife Jenn.

New for this and future contests will be “The Peoples Choice Award,” so come and vote for your favorite food item. All judging is anonymous and is judged by a number.

Entertainment will be provided by June Marquez (aka Patsy Cline) and local musician Eric Wade, who will be volunteering their talents.

A coalition of volunteers have been in Greeley, Colo. and will be returning to Pagosa early next week with materials to build Pagosa’s own ice skating rink. Their acquisitions include two Zambonis, a gas-powered ice edger, rink boards, (including Plexiglas panels), hockey nets, uniforms, skates and more.

We will have a lot to talk about, so come join in on the fun. Save the date for our next contest on April 4, where we will be judging breakfast and brunch on April 4, same location and the same times. Bon appetite.
