Cross-country skier found safe after overnight search

A Friday night search for a local cross-country skier ended on a good note early Saturday morning, with the skier found safe and with only minor injuries.

A page was sent out to Upper San Juan Search and Rescue (USJSAR) shortly before 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 3, reporting a 75-year-old male who failed to return home after cross-country skiing in Falls Canyon, near Wolf Creek Pass, said Christina Marquart, incident commander and deputy director of emergency management for Archuleta County.
