Because of needed dock repairs and low water levels, the marina at Navajo State Park is closing on Monday, July 15.

The reservoir and the boat ramp, however, are open.

The marina store will be closed and gasoline will not be sold. Gasoline will be available to boaters at the Arboles Store, located just outside the park.

Some temporary closures of the boat ramp might occur while the dock is being taken out of the water. Call the park after July 17 for information about closures.

The water level is 60 feet down and Navajo Reservoir is about 50 percent full. Outflows from the reservoir are continuing and the water level is dropping.

“Smaller boats can still launch and there’s plenty of water for water skiing, fishing and general enjoyment,” said Doug Secrist, park manager.

The boat dock at the marina was damaged last year by strong winds and ice. Because the water is so low, the repairs can’t be made while the dock is in the water. It will be placed back in the water next spring when water levels are adequate.

Outstanding camping is available at Navajo State Park with more than 100 campsites and three cabins. To reserve a camp spot or a cabin, call (800) 678-2267, or go to the reservation section of the Colorado Parks and Reservation website, http://coloradostateparks.reserveamerica.com.
