obit newbySeth Orion Newby of Pagosa Springs, Colo., made his transition on Feb. 11, 2013, at Children’s Hospital Colorado in Aurora. He was born in Durango on July 8, 2005. Seth’s precious life ended due to rare lung diseases. This beautiful, eternally sweet child, now an angel in heaven, was an angel on earth and left a permanent mark on the hearts of many. He loved school, his iPad, puzzles, reading, writing, painting, throwing pebbles in Lake Pagosa, Thomas the Train, and life! Seth was kind, loving and peaceful to his last breath in his mother’s arms. His generosity lives on in cornea donation and lung research.

Seth’s parents are grateful to everyone who helped during Seth’s illness and the many people who helped Seth have a wonderful life. Special thanks to Patty Shull and Janelle Karas. Deepest gratitude to the amazing people at Pagosa Mountain Hospital, Durango Mercy Hospital, Texas Children’s, Children’s of Colorado, Ronald McDonald House and Flight for Life. Seth is survived by his mother, Nila Velchoff, his father, Gary Lynn Newby, his maternal grandmother, Esther Velchoff, of Bellville, Texas, and aunts, uncles and cousins.
