Snow falls, Wolf Creek Pass reopens after brief closure

Posted

Another winter storm rolled into Pagosa Country overnight and continues to dump snow today throughout the area.

U.S. 160 on the west side of Wolf Creek Pass was closed briefly this morning for avalanche control work. The pass reopened to traffic, with the chain law in effect, at approximately 8:30 a.m.

The storm has dumped 14 inches of snow at Wolf Creek Ski Area, bringing the year-to-date total to 93 inches.

Most local roads are passable, with state, county and town plow crews on duty.

The Accuweather forecast for Pagosa Springs calls for snow to taper off during the day, with 1-3 inches of additional accumulation. Cold temperatures are expected overnight with a good chance for sunny skies Thursday and Friday.
