Unitarian Universalists will discuss ‘The Tool of Curiosity in Love and Oneness’

The following two quotes are from the Rev. Ron Phares and the Rev. Ruth Rinehart, respectively, shared at two different Sunday services in August.

“We have been willingly fooled into the saturating notion that we are independent things; discrete from one another, personas disjoined from other personas, sensory machines reactive to but distinguished from a sensual world.”

“We are a covenantal religion, Unitarian Universalists. We have no creed that you need to recite each week, and submit yourself to spiritually. We recognize a great diversity of beliefs, and we covenant to walk together in religious community.”

This Sunday, Sept. 1, we will have a different kind of service with a focus on “The Tool of Curiosity in Love and Oneness” as presented by our recent guest ministers.

Journalist Monica Guzman states, “Curiosity is a tool in our thinking that we can aim right at things we don’t understand especially when what we don’t understand is hurting us.”

With that in mind and heart, we will apply curiosity to our wondering questions as a way to live our values in the world.

Facilitated by De Anna Hoyle, community engagement coordinator, and member Pauline Benetti, using a world café-style of gathering around tables and sharing deeply, we will reflect on these past messages and fellowship together.

Refreshments will be provided, so come grow your spirit.

‘What Our World Needs Now’

The Pagosa Unitarian Universalist (UU) Fellowship is excited to be partnering with Foothills Unitarian Church in Fort Collins for a series: “What the World Needs Now — Universalism in a Polarized Age.”

Consider this series, beginning Sept. 15 and continuing Sept. 29, as an antidote to election anxiety, shared by the ministers at Foothills Unitarian Church. We will explore the challenge of living out the Universalist belief that everyone is worthy of love, especially in a world filled with daily frustrations and divisiveness. It highlights how easy it is to let irritation and outrage overshadow our commitment to a broader, inclusive love.

“What Our World Needs Now” invites us to delve into these challenges together, building resilience and courage to widen the circle of love, even in difficult times.

All are welcome to get curious with us as we make friends, grow in spirit and do good.
