Dear Editor:
I regret to share some disturbing news here in Aspen Springs, Unit 1. We have lost 4 deer in our neighborhood alone on Simmons Drive this year due to speeders. 2 are does and 2 are fawns.
This is a problem that continues every year, especially during the birthing season. One of the does that was hit was just 15 feet from the 20 MPH speed limit sign. Earlier this year I found a doe on my property that had died from being hit by a speeder. I have found other deer out on the property and on the side of the road that in the past years have died from speeding drivers in the neighborhood. This is on E. Simmons Drive where it is posted at 20 MPH, not on the state highway that has a 60 MPH speed limit.
The score so far this year is 4 deer dead, 0 speeders. Please, slow down !
