Southwest Colorado Cancer Survivor Celebration planned

Posted

To commemorate nationwide celebrations honoring cancer survivors, CommonSpirit Mercy Hospital, Cancer Support Community Southwest Colorado, Cancer Coalition of Southwest Colorado, Myriad Genetics, Simms/Mann UCLA Center for Integrative Oncology and The Colorado Trust are sponsoring the Southwest Colorado Cancer Survivor Celebration on May 31 from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the Three Springs Pavilion in Durango.

We will be celebrating our cancer community with a casual picnic-like gathering featuring food, music, activities, special speakers and connection with other survivors. This event will be a testament to the power of perseverance and the support of a caring community. Cancer survivors, their families, friends and supporters will come together for reflection, inspiration and camaraderie.

“We want this event to be a source of inspiration and empowerment for everyone touched by cancer,” said Brandon Mencini, CEO of CommonSpirit Mercy Hospital. “We believe it’s essential to recognize the incredible journey our cancer survivors face. Their strength and resilience serve as a beacon of hope for others facing similar challenges, and we celebrate and honor their unwavering courage and triumph over adversity.”

Every person who has had or who is now experiencing cancer is considered a cancer survivor, as well as family members, friends, caregivers and health care providers. All are invited to attend.

For more information about the event or to RSVP, please contact Toni Abbey at Cancer Support Community Southwest Colorado at (970) 403-3711 or email hope@cancersupportswco.org.
