Robert M. Case

Bob was born in Kansas City, Mo., to Melville and Wilda. Shortly thereafter they moved to Denver, where he attended school. He enlisted in the United States Navy on Jan. 8, 1942, following the Pearl Harbor bombing, serving in the Pacific Theatre. He was honorably discharged on June 5, 1947. 

Following, he attended Colorado A&M from 1947-1952 and received a Bachelor of Science in forest range management. While there he worked in food service and various other jobs. 

After graduation, ranching at his wife’s family homestead was his life from 1952-1955. He worked for the United States Forest Service in Colorado, Arizona, Wyoming, South Dakota and Montana between 1955 and 1981. His last assignment was in the San Juan National Forest as supervisor. 

Bob was a Mason for 74 years moving his membership each time he moved to a new community. The brotherhood was a stable in his life. Medicine was an interest all his life. When he retired there was time to train as an emergency medical technician and served for 10 years. He was a charter member of the Pagosa hospital district board of directors. His public service included being a county commissioner for Hinsdale County for six years.

Bob is proceeded in death by wife (Peggy), brother (Gene) and grandson George Kyriacou. 

Bob is survived by his daughter, Robin Ball (Ray); son Russell Case (Bernadette); grandchildren Steve Ball (Michelle), Debra Harrop, Susan Ball, John Kyriacou, Anna Ball, Jared Case, Keryssa Connely (Josh), Janessa Alcon and Adrienne Alcon; great-grandchildren, Joesph Ball, James Ball (Nicole), Klutch Naugle, Chassi Naugle, Eli Simental, Niyo Simental; and multiple great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, at the Community United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. A reception will follow.
