Celebrate the mothers in your life by attending Aspire’s Moon Walk for Moms event on Saturday, May 4, at Yamaguchi Park.

Kids can enjoy fun space-themed games, a bounce house and a scavenger hunt with prizes.

Participants can register online for free at https://aspirepagosa.org or just show up. Get creative and plan your team “costumes” around our moon/space theme. There will be prizes for the Top Fundraising Team, the Top Individual Fundraiser, the Best Stroller decoration and Best Team Costume.

Check-in/registration and a free breakfast starts at 8:30 a.m. in Yamaguchi Park. The walk starts at 9 a.m. and the awards ceremony will follow at 10 a.m. Various stations and fun pit stops will be set up along the path for supporters to play games and get information. All registrants will receive a “goodie bag,” and walkers can also earn additional prizes based on how much you raise such as this year’s Walk for Moms T-shirt, a North Face crossbody bag and a Stanley cup.

There will also be a prize for the most laps completed.

The Walk for Moms keeps our quality prenatal clinic affordable for all as well as helps us provide parenting education and group classes for babies and toddlers.

One of the dads who took our Positive Parenting group class commented at the end of the last class that he had a real revelation during the class.

He said one of his children had become afraid of him and he couldn’t figure out why. After learning about temperament, he realized spanking his child was making him afraid.

One of our goals is to help all children thrive physically, socially and emotionally during the first few years of life.  Preparing parents not only with the physical aspects of parenting, but to care for their children socially and emotionally, is a huge step toward reaching that goal.
