Pagosa Country welcomed more than 58,600 visitors over the Fourth of July holiday.

According to a report provided by Tourism Director Jennifer Greene, more than 58,600 people visited the area between Wednesday, July 1, and Saturday July 4.

Greene’s report notes that 24,700 of those visitors were “out-of-market” visitors with a home destination more than 50 miles away.

Greene also notes that folks had to stay in the area for more than 150 minutes to be counted as a visitor.

In 2025, Greene reported that the area saw more than 62,700 people visiting Archuleta County between July 2 and July 6 — a Wednesday through Sunday period.

Greene’s report was generated using cellphone data collected by Placer.ai, which indicates that the average length of stay for visitors over the holiday was 2.5 days.

Regionally, Archuleta County saw the second most number of visitors, behind La Plata County, which had more than 93,100 visitors over the holiday period.

Hinsdale County saw 24,000 visitors, Mineral County saw 19,500 visitors, San Juan County saw 18,100 visitors, Ouray County saw 34,400 visitors and Montezuma County saw 54,700 visitors, according to Green’s report.

“We appear to have fared well over the 4th compared to most other markets,” Greene wrote.

She also explains that the numbers “look different” from data gathered the last few years, due to the fact that Placer.ai’s “reporting has changed.”
